The latest tract of real estate to be reclaimed from the barren desert of northwest Las Vegas is Lone Mountain, named for an isolated peak standing in the middle of several small communities in the region. Until recently, developments have been sparse in this part of town. The narrow streets and light infrastructure give the communities of Lone Mountain an intimate, semi-rural feel, though the neighborhood lies just inside the I-215 Beltway giving fast connectivity to the rest of the City.
Many of the homes in Lone Mountain are elevated up to 600 feet above Clark County, giving residents some of the most breathtaking views of the city. Look up and it feels like the Spring Mountains are looming right above you. Lone Mountain itself, an independent rocky butte in the heart of the community, provides great views and reasonably challenging climbs for a pleasant day of hiking.
Westerly it may be, but Lone Mountain properties enjoy easy access to the I-215 Beltway which effectively connects the Lone Mountain communities to the rest of Clark County. Within 30 to 40 minutes, depending on traffic, you could be walking through the canopied streets of downtown or pulling into the airport to catch a flight. Closer to home, you'll find shops, restaurants, PGA-caliber golf and recreation facilities, all within a 10 minute drive. For a summer heat-busting escape, the horseshoe-shaped ridge tops of Mount Charleston and the Lee Canyon Ski Lodge are just 35 minutes away.
Situated in the deep northwestern section of the Las Vegas Valley, Lone Mountain is a mecca for those seeking to escape the Valley via some altitude.
Developments are small and lots, when established, are often sold alone or in small groups. Many Lone Mountain houses are custom, though production homes in smaller lots are also available. Many homes are brand new. Several properties have sprawling sites that back onto natural area open spaces.
Lone Mountain may not be one of the region's most bustling tourist destinations, but for stunning views and the immediacy of rugged nature, these intimate communities are certainly worth the trip out west.
